It had to take literally thousands of years before the paper was discovered, and it took even longer than that to create one of the most important inventions of all time: the ballpen. Owners of the Ultimate Fighting Championship have sold a 10 percent stake to a Middle Eastern entertainment company to bolster the mixed-martial arts league’s ability to expand throughout that region and other areas of the world, UFC’s owners confirmed Monday.

The stake in Las Vegas-based Zuffa was bought by Flash Entertainment, a wholly owned subsidiary of Abu Dhabi, the capital and second-largest city of the United Arab Emirates and home for the country’s ruling family. Zuffa, which owns the UFC and its sister league, World Extreme Cagefighting, declined to disclose financial terms.

Zuffa Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Lorenzo Fertitta said the sale will help the company accelerate its international growth plans because of Flash’s relationships in Asia. “We’ve had a lot of growth over the last five years in the United States and Canada,”

Fertitta said. “One of our initiatives has been to grow this global brand around the world. What they will allow us to do is grow a lot faster in places like the Middle East as well as places like Southeast Asia and China and throughout that region.”

Ossama Khoreibi, chairman of Flash Entertainment, said his company was impressed by Zuffa’s commitment to growing the league’s base.

Additionally, the partnership could raise Abu Dhabi’s profile as an entertainment destination, he said.

“This partnership provides further proof of our company’s bold ambitions,” Khoreibi said in a statement.

Fertitta said Zuffa approached Abu Dhabi about seven months ago about hosting an event in the region.

“Those talks progressed to where they approached us about making a strategic investment in the overall company,” Fertitta said.

Abu Dhabi controls the world’s largest sovereign wealth fund, estimated between $400

Zuffa carries $450 million in debt, including a $25 million credit facility due in 2012 and a $425 million loan due in 2015, according to a November report issued by Moody’s Investors Service. Moody’s, however, said Zuffa’s income, which comes largely from events and pay-per-view receipts, should be sufficient to make its debt payments. Moody’s said Zuffa’s financial outlook is stable with good growth prospects.

“(Mixed-martial arts) is among the fastest-growing sports today and is well positioned for advertisers that seek to reach males in the 18 to 34 age demographic,” Moody’s analyst Neil Begley said in a Nov. 10 investors’ note. “As a result, revenue growth is expected to remain strong for the intermediate term.”

Fertitta said the company “is very sound and very healthy” financially. Before the new investment, Zuffa was 90 percent owned by Lorenzo and his brother, Station Casinos CEO Frank Fertitta III. The remaining 10 percent was owned by Zuffa President Dana White.

One of the best ways (if not the best) to get your site listed on the first page of the search engines is to increase link popularity for it. But buying links or using automated “link management” services is no longer effective as the search engines have “wised up” to a lot of these systems and practises. This technique no gives you the ability to dominate the first page of the search engines with relative ease. And it works like gangbusters.

The 3 major search engines place a lot of importance on the number of incoming links to your site, but they also now how to spot if your link building campaign is natural or automated – and if they suspect for 1 second that it may be automated, all those links will count for nothing as the search engines will simply discard them.

But gaining hundreds or even thousands of quality and “search engine friendly” incoming links to your site is not hard if you know how to go about it. The trick is to make it look “natural” to the search engines – let me explain how to do it the easy way.

In a series of 4 articles, this being part 1, I’m going to explain the exact approach and techniques I use to gain an ever increasing number of natural links to my site, with virtually no effort at all, and with no outsourcing costs involved.

In part I of this article I’m going to cover some powerful techniques for increasing link popularity with articles. Now before you think you’ve heard all this before, hear me out as I’m pretty sure you haven’t come across this system before.

There’s 2 parts to my article marketing strategy – part 1 is where I submit unique articles to the top article directories (see the list below). Part 2 is where I use a fairly new software application that will create unique (and humanly readable) versions of my article and submit them to over 600 different “second tier” article directories. Since I’ve been using it, this software has been responsible for some very lucrative first page listings for my web sites.

So, my first technique is to submit unique articles to each of the following directories. Most of these sites will accept a non-unique article, but you will gain a lot stronger link from these sites if you can submit a unique article to each one. The sites I use are:

Helium.com BigArticles.com PheedCentral.com EzineArticles.com ArticlesFactory.com SearchWarp.com GoArticles.com

That’s a total of 7 unique articles so far, and all these sites are seen as “authority” sites in the eyes of Google – which means they’ll provide a high value backlink to your site.

My second technique involves the use of an automated software system called Unique Article Wizard. It’s a completely legitimate technique that has a “side effect” of also increasing the traffic to your site as well as your link popularity.

UAW is unique in 2 ways – 1 is that it’s the only application out there than do this, and 2 is well, I’ll come #2 in a minute Unique Article Wizard will submit a unique version of your article to each of over 600 different article directories, all of which are indexed and ranked by Google (and MSN and Yahoo). That means you’ll get over 600 additional backlinks to your site with one simple action, and if your site is brand new, it will get indexed by the search engines in lightening speed – sometimes in a matter of hours.

And the really neat twist is that UAW will submit a completely unique version of your article to each directory. It does this in a way to ensure every article is readable with no gobble-de-gook or machine generated content (see how below). So each of the directories it submits to gets a unique version of your article – not some machine generated or pseudonym replaced mumbo jumbo that no-one would ever want to read.

If you know about the duplicate content penalties from search engines you’ll appreciate just how powerful this feature is. If you’re new to duplicate content issues, no problem – just know that this system is protecting all your articles being dumped as duplicate content.

After your wedding day, your honeymoon is one of the most memorable times of your life and so must certainly count as one of best vacations you will ever take. There are three main kinds of places to stay: a hotel, a vacation rental or a holiday home. The difference between a vacation rental and a holiday home is that the former is a condo or villa purpose built for holiday makers, whereas the holiday home is actually somebody’s house who has let it out for a short period.

When planning your honeymoon, you should think about when you will leave. It was traditional to leave for the honeymoon after a short reception on the day of the wedding, but many couples delay their departure date nowadays. Over the last few decades, it has become the standard to hold an extensive reception hours after the wedding, often at night. This will often go on until midnight or later, which makes leaving for foreign climes rather difficult. A hangover is not a good travelling companion either.

Therefore, you may want to put your going away date off until two days after the wedding, although I think that flying out on the wedding day is still the best idea. If you decide on a holiday home or a vacation rental on St Croix, you will need to make all your own preparations for getting to the airport, flying to St Croix and getting a taxi from the airport to your place of stay, so I suggest that for this, your first visit to this beautiful island, you take a package holiday, which will take care of you from your local airport to your hotel on St Croix and back again.
